VINCI Technology Centre open office in Cumbria

VINCI Technology Centre UK Limited has opened a new office at Westlakes Science & Technology Park on the west coast of Cumbria.

Westlakes is populated with firms working in the nuclear, energy, science and technologies industries, making it a befitting north west base for VINCI Technology Centre UK.

Formerly part of Taylor Woodrow Construction, the Technology Centre was set up in the 1950s to support the construction of the world’s first commercial reactor at Calder Hall.  In fact, Taylor Woodrow was involved in the design and construction of many of the current fleet of generating stations.  VINCI Technology Centre UK is still active in the nuclear sector, offering safety critical inspections as well as full-scale construction trials, drop testing and condition/corrosion surveys.

Business Development Director, Steve Shanahan, commented:

“This is an important move for us.  Drawing upon decades of experience and knowledge, we aim to grow our business by collaborating with existing supply chain partners, employing local resource and expertise. Together we can provide practical and innovative solutions to the challenges involved in nuclear decommissioning and new build.”
