Technology Centre tests for €1.5bn Qatar contract

A rail project in Qatar is benefitting from the testing expertise of the Technology Centre.

The €1.5bn Doha Metro Southern Line project includes the design and construction of a 13.8km dual-tube underground line between Doha airport and the Msheireb neighbourhood in the historic centre of the Qatari capital.

The joint venture, led by QDVC – a 51% Qatari Diar and 49% VINCI Construction Grands Projets owned company – has contracted the Technology Centre to perform a range of water absorption tests at its UKAS accredited testing laboratory.

The testing being carried out will help to validate performance of the high specification steel fibre reinforced concrete.

Being the first of the four planned Doha metro lines, the operation is one of a number of major projects carried out under the Qatar Rail Development Program, which aims to develop transport infrastructure aligned with the Qatar National Vision 2030.
