VINCI Technology Centre UK Team Help Get Temporary Dam Constructed

A team of 22 volunteers from VINCI Technology Centre UK assisted the Buckingham Canal Society (BCS) in constructing a temporary dam in Cosgrove.

The purpose of the working visit to the site on the Northamptonshire/Buckinghamshire border was to help build a temporary dam in a dry channel, allowing the BCS to then fill the upstream section, helping to restore this section of the waterway.

All of the work was carried out by hand and in just one day, the team not only made great progress in strengthening the dam against the power of the Grand Union Canal, but a number of volunteers also worked on a public towpath that will give pedestrians safer and easier access to the surrounding area.

Executive Personal Assistant Nazia Malik, organised the event, and said of the day:

“First and foremost, this was a fantastic opportunity for a VINCI Technology Centre UK team to make a real contribution to the local landscape. In addition, it was a great way for the team to come together outside of the workplace and literally get our hands dirty.”
